Have you ever gone to a pot luck and had a dessert than everyone wants to talk about, try, and wonder how it came about? The dessert is pretty and it tastes great. People will wonder how it was made. It can quickly become the talk of event. It is fun for family parties and birthdays as well.
Older children who can handle boiling water will be able to make this themselves and have a good time doing it. Younger children can certainly help cut up the gelatin with a plastic knife and help arrange it in the pan. It is a great family product.
Although the recipe is for Jello and gelatin dessert will work.
4 small boxes (3 oz each) of gelatin dessert in different flavors. (lime, raspberry, grape, and lemon make a good mix)
1 (14oz) can of sweetened condensed milk
2 envelopes of unflavored gelatin
For each flavor dissolve one 3 oz jello in one cup of boiling water. Pour into separate containers and chill overnight.
Cut the chilled gelatin into small squares. Mix the colors and place the blocks in a 9 x 13 pan.
In a bowl, sprinkle the unflavored gelatin onto ½ cup of cold water. The gelatin will spread and increase. Add 1 ½ cup of boiling water. Dissolve the gelatin. Add the can of condensed milk to the dissolved gelatin. Stir and allow it to cool to room temperature.
Poor the condensed milk mixture over the blocks of jello. Skim the bubbles off the top of the mixture. This will help give the dessert the smooth look desired. Carefully, move to the refrigerator and let chill over night.
This dessert is then cut into small colorful squares and served individually.
Don’t be surprised when this becomes a favorite request.
